Berlin, March 13 (Reporter Li Chao) German Chancellor Scholz reiterated during a routine inquiry at the Bundestag on the 13th that he would not provide Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine.
Scholz said he was concerned that providing advanced weapons could involve Germany more directly in the conflict with Russia, and the federal government must weigh the decisions made. Acting cautiously is not what some people think of as weakness.
Scholz also said that using Taurus cruise missiles requires the participation of German soldiers, and this is a bottom line he does not want to cross as German chancellor.
Scholz has recently come under pressure on whether to provide Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine. Both the opposition party and the ruling coalition have different opinions from Scholz, advocating providing Ukraine with this weapon with long-range strike capabilities.
